Cheesy Green Bean Casserole

Everyone loves green bean casserole.  That doesn’t mean, however, that the classic recipe cannot be improved.  I have tried many variations over the years, and I find this version to be the best.  In particular, I find the addition of the cheddar cheese to be sheer genius!  The next time you make this classic, I hope you give my Cheesy Green Bean Casserole a try.  You won’t be disappointed.

Ingredients

2 Tablespoons Flour

2 Tablespoons Butter

3/4 cup Sour Cream

3 cans French Cut Green Beans

3 cups Sharp Cheddar Cheese

6 oz French’s Crispy Fried Onions

Special Equipment

This isn’t required, but if you get a saucier, you will never regret it.  Why? With a saucier, you will never have “stuff” burning in the corners of your saucepan.

Directions

Heat up saucier over medium heat.  Add butter.

Add flour.  Stir and cook this roux until mixture is tan colored, about 1 to 2 minutes.  Add sour cream and stir until combined.  Add green beans and combine.

Add 2 cups of cheese and combine.

img_3545

Add green bean mixture to a dish.  I like using a 2.5 liter Corningware dish.

Add remaining cup of cheese evenly over the top.

Add the fried onions evenly over the top.

Cheesy Green Bean Casserole

Bake in a 350 degree until the top has browned slightly and the cheese underneath is bubbly, about 30 minutes. Serve.
